e-cig picCalifornia’s E-Cig Ban Has A Stale Smell!

Some people and some groups never give up, even when there appears to be no practical reason to go on – except for their own selfish intentions. Take for instance, California’s e-cig ban proposal, which is so absurd, it makes NYC Mayor “Nanny” Bloomberg’s anti-smoking crusades seem pale in comparison.

At least in The Big Apple, anti-smoking activists’ crusade against real-life health threats, not phantom ones, but that is not the case in California. Out in the Sunshine State, anti-smoking crusaders and the lawmakers who shine their shoes pass laws against unproven and undocumented health threats, using the preëmptive logic that products like e-cigs “might” be dangerous to people around them.

That is like taking a photo of your cuddly and harmless two-year-old child, uploading it into your Photoshop, and then slapping a photo of Jeffrey Dahmer’s face on it.

Watch out – my baby…um…e-cig…could be a killer!

But…where’s the beef? Where is the documented proof, or should I say – MEDICAL PROOF – that e-cigs and the smokeless and odorless vapor they emit into the atmosphere is harmful to anyone around them?

The answer is clear…there is no proof. Out of all the studies that have been done, almost all have concluded that the odorless vapor being emitted from smokers’ mouths are not harmful to the atmosphere or to people around them in any way, shape or form.

Usually, when you propose a law, like California’s Senate Bill 648 (that will ban the use of electronic cigarettes wherever cigarette smoking is banned) you need to come up with credible documentation proving that it is harmful to the public.

So where is it?

About the only thing that could be remotely dangerous about e-cigs (to bystanders around them) is that they have a battery that might (rarely) explode, and if that’s the case, start throwing away all those high-tech gadgets you depend on so much or, for the most part, your fun, little world will quickly be over.

The simple fact of the matter is that anti-smokers do not want you to be able to use anything that even looks like a cigarette or remotely reminds them of one. Neither does the big tobacco companies who are afraid they could be losing precious sales to the electronic cigarette market – which is quickly rising in popularity.

It is ironic, though, that these same people usually have no problem with going to a social function or a bar, and watching people all around them drown themselves in alcohol and maybe even getting into a car and driving. So where is the health edict then? Suddenly, it is tossed out the window, depending on what their own personal likes or dislikes are…or because of who happens to be in the room at that very moment.

I personally find some people’s perfume and cologne offensive, but I keep my mouth shut, because who am I to say what people should or should not wear, even though it might make me breakout in a rash and smell like a woman.

But who cares what I think, right…I’m just a smoker…and I guess a criminal also.
